phonics word writing worksheet and Ispy worksheet with pink school supplies background.

Let's be real: phonics can get a little.... repetitive for kids and teachers alike.

However, phonics instruction is absolutely essential for our beginning readers. Without a strong phonics foundation, decoding and spelling become a daily struggle. Nobody wants that!

That’s why I created this phonics worksheet bundle. It’s full of fun, skill-targeted activities that actually work and won’t bore your kiddos (or you!).

Before I show you what’s inside, let’s talk about why these kinds of worksheets matter so much.

💡 Why Phonics Worksheets Are a Must in Any K-2 Classroom

1. They give students repeated exposure in fun ways.

Repetition builds mastery. Instead of drilling flashcards over and over, why not let kids practice the same skill through coloring, writing, matching, and games? That’s how these worksheets keep things fresh while still reinforcing the same phonics pattern.

2. They support all kinds of learners.

Some kids need to move, some need visuals, and some need lots of chances to write. These activities were designed with that in mind. Rainbow writing, I Spy pages, sentence building. There’s something for every kind of learner.

3. They connect phonics to real reading and writing.

When kids use their word lists to make sentences or match pictures, they’re learning that phonics isn’t just about sounding out words on a page — it’s a tool for communicating, too.

4. They’re teacher-friendly.

Let’s be honest: sometimes you just need something you can print and use now. These worksheets are grab-and-go and easy to plug into centers, morning work, or your weekly spelling routine.

📦 So, What’s in the Bundle?

Each phonics skill (like short vowels, digraphs, blends, etc.) comes with 6 different worksheets:

  • Spelling Word Lists – Easy to send home or use in small groups.

  • Rainbow Write – A hands-on way to help kids remember their spelling words.

  • Sentence Writing Practice – Helps them use those spelling words in real sentences.

  • Picture Matching Pages – Great for vocab, reading, and critical thinking.

  • Word Writing Practice – Simple word formation with a focus on neatness.

  • I Spy Worksheets – Fun, visual word hunts that don’t feel like work.

Whether you're reviewing CVC words or tackling trickier patterns, this bundle makes your life easier and helps your students grow.
